Tip of the Week: Using Behavioral Questions

By

This week’s tip of the week comes from Alison Mackay, Technical Recruiter at Facebook, from our webinar: Guarantee Great Hiring Decisions Every Time!

Alison Mackay:

“I always go with the behavioral type questions. I feel like it gives candidates an opportunity to share more in-depth about their background and how they’ve dealt with certain situations. ‘Tell me about a time when you had a conflict with the peer. How did you handle that?’ and then we kinda talked about it previously but probing more and saying, ‘Okay, what did that conversation look like? Tell me more about that,’ and really focusing on their behavior. That’s again when it goes back to having the understanding of what they’re not saying or where they might have had you know a different culture than what you’re looking for. So being able to kinda probe those out in the questions and again just kinda hear what they’re not saying is important.”
